BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's tennis team had a pair of singles players and a doubles team ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Midwest Region Rankings. Senior Dmytro Ishtuganov and sophomore Dara McLoughlin were ranked 23rd and 28th, respectively, in the 30-player singles poll, while the duo of seniors Neil Kenner and Ishtuganov came in the 15-team doubles rankings at No. 9.

Ishtuganov and McLoughlin are both coming off impressive runs in the Big Ten Indoor Singles Championships, Nov. 11-14. In the concluding tournament of the fall season, both Hoosiers advanced to the semifinal round of the 64-player main singles draw.

Ishtuganov advanced to the finals of the event before falling to Wisconsin's Nolan Polly in a difficult three-set affair. Along his road to the finals, the Kiev, Ukraine native disposed of Ohio State's Bryan Koniecko, who was ranked 120th nationally, in straight sets. Koniecko is ranked 10th in the Midwest Region Rankings. Ishtuganov finished the fall campaign with a 7-4 record.

McLoughlin finished the fall season with a 6-5 record, including a 1-1 mark against nationally-ranked foes. The Dublin, Ireland native defeated Illinois' Marc Spicijaric, who was 115th nationally, in the first round of the ITA Midwest Regional, 6-3, 7-5. It was the first victory over a ranked opponent for McLoughlin.

Ishtuganov and Kenner finished the fall with a 5-3 record. The Hoosier duo advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional before falling in a hotly-contested match to the top-seeded and 19th-ranked team of Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafssen of Louisville, 9-8 (5). The Louisville duo is ranked fourth in the Midwest Region Rankings.

Last season, the Hoosiers had the same number of singles players and one doubles team ranked in the Fall Midwest Rankings. Jakub Praibis was ranked 16th a season ago, while current sophomore Michael McCarthy was 26th during the fall of his rookie campaign. The doubles team of John Stone and Ryan Recht was ranked 11th in the fall doubles rankings last season.

The Hoosiers are one of eight teams with multiple individuals ranked among the top 30 in the Midwest. Of those eight teams, six are from the Big Ten Conference.

Indiana opens the spring season with a home doubleheader on Jan. 21. IU will face Butler at 9 a.m. in the Indiana Tennis Center followed by a 3:30 p.m. affair with Bradley.
