    Dave Volz, a former IU track athlete and a 1992 Olympian, is in his third year with the Indiana track and field program. He serves as a volunteer coach and works with the Hoosier pole-vaulters.

    Volz, a letterwinner at IU from 1981-84, took fifth in the pole vault at the 1992 Olympic games with a clearance of 5.65m (18-6.5). He was also the 1981 NCAA outdoor pole vault champion and was a five-time All-American at IU.

    The two-time indoor and outdoor Big Ten pole vault champion set two American records while at Indiana, and was dubbed the `Best Vaulter in the World' by Track and Field News in 1982.
