Lawson leads Hoosiers at Indiana Open II

Kiwan Lawson led the Hoosiers at the Indiana Open II on Saturday, Jan. 13, winning two events on the day.
Lawson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20. He also finished first in the long jump for the second week in a row with a distance of 7.16 meters.
Indiana earned 10 event wins. The Hoosiers won five of the six field events held at the meet. Sophomore Jeff Coover was first in the pole vault, clearing 5.00 meters.
Freshman Jared Nuxoll earned a win in the high jump with a clearance of 2.02 meters, while fellow freshman Eric Werskey tossed 17.67 meters in the shot put. Sophomore Paul Fearnow finished with a distance of 18.29 meters in the weight throw.
The 4x400 meter relay team won behind senior Trey Warfield, sophomore Leon Brown, sophomore Martin Stephen and sophomore John Gunnell. They finished with a time of 3:17.17. The distance medley relay team also finished first in 10:06.89.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 20, as it hosts the Indiana Team Classic. Events begin at noon.
