    Hoosiers Earn Personal Bests At Indiana Relays

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Several Hoosiers recorded personal bests on the second day of the Indiana Relays on Saturday, Feb. 3, held at Gladstein Fieldhouse at Indiana University.

    Senior Kiwan Lawson earned top-five finishes in the 200-meter dash and the long jump. Lawson's time of 21.97 in the 200-meter dash invitational was good for fourth, and was also a personal best. He was third in the long jump with a leap of 7.30 meters.

    "Kiwan had a good day for us," interim head men's track and field coach Wayne Pate said. "We have several guys who are very close to putting everything together and being a factor at Big Ten's in a few weeks."

    Junior Keith Heerdegen had a strong finish in the 200-meter dash open, finishing second in 21.92. Freshman Paul Fearnow was third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.22 meters.

    Sophomore Wil Glover and junior Jacob Moylan finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 60-meter dash finals. Glover crossed the line in 6.95, while Moylan earned a time of 6.97.

    Others who had strong finishes include sophomore Jeff Coover in the pole vault invitational, clearing 5.06 meters to finish fourth, and junior Ryan Smith earned sixth in the 600-meter run in 1:22.24.

     

     

    The Hoosiers go on the road next weekend, Feb. 9-10, traveling to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., hosted by the University of Arkansas. Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center will also be the host site of the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held March 9-10.
