    Hoosiers Successful on Day One of Split Weekend

    NOTRE DAME, Ind./GENEVA, Ohio - Derek Drouin and Courtney Woodard led the way for the Hoosiers in Ohio, while the women's distance medley highlighted IU's effort at the Meyo Invitational. Drouin leads the heptathlon at the GaREAT Collegiate Invite after day one. The DMR team finished with one of the top 10 times in the NCAA this season.

    Drouin finished his day with a score of 3,218 pts. That is a 74-point improvement on his day one total two weeks ago at the Gladstein Invitational. Drouin posted heptathlon personal bests in all four events on the day, clocking a time of 7.25 seconds in the 60m dash, leaping 6.85m (22-5.75) in the long jump, throwing 12.28m (40-3.5) in the shot put and clearing 2.23m (7-3.75).

    Woodard had a career-best score of 3,506 pts., to take the lead in the Big Ten on the season. Woodard finished fourth, as assistant coach Abbie Norton took the win with a score of 4,254 pts.

    At Notre Dame, Kelsey Duerksen, Ann-Marie Clarke, Arianne Raby and Chelsea Blanchard clocked a time of 11:23.26 for fourth place. The time is the fourth fastest in school history and ranks ninth on the national descending order list.

    Three Hoosiers advanced to Saturday finals at the Meyo Invitational in the 60m Hurdles. In the men's preliminaries, Ronneal Williams clocked a time of 8.20 for the sixth-best advancing time. His time is the seventh-fastest in IU lore. Logan Griffith also advanced with a time of 8.28 seconds, matching his personal best, the ninth-best in school history. In the women's prelims, Portia Bailey advanced with a time of 8.72, just of her PR of 8.71, which she ran a week ago at the Indiana Relays.
