    Hoosiers Sit in Seventh After Day One At Big Tens

    MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Indiana finished day one of the men's Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships in seventh-place with 9 points. Leading the way for the Hoosiers were sophomores Ben Hubers and Andrew Poore, who took fifth and sixth respectively in the 3,000m.

    Hubers clocked a time of 8:11.25 for fifth in the 3K. He was just 1.14 seconds out of third. Poore finished just behind him in 8:12.98. Poore was tripped up at the start of the final lap but was able to regain his balance and bring home three points for IU. The duo combined for seven of IU's nine points on the day.

    Junior Cedric Hudson took eighth in the long jump to earn a point for the team. He recorded a jump of 6.98m (22-11). Hudson was just three centimeters out of seventh and four centimeters out of sixth.

    The Hoosiers took eighth in the DMR for a point. Daniel Stockberger, Martin Stephen, Joe Holahan and Zach Mayhew finished in 10:03.38. Mayhew made up an approximate 40-meter deficit to earn a point for IU on the final mile-long leg.

    Hoosiers earned five spots in Sunday finals. Andy Bayer and De'Sean Turner advanced in the mile. Kind Butler and Devin Pipkin advanced in the 60m dash and Butler also advanced in the 200m.
