Relay Team Competes at Alex Wilson Invitational
March 3, 2007
SOUTH BEND, Ind.- Members of the Indiana women's and men's track and field teams all posted competitive times on the second day of the Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational.
In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Courtney Johnson ran a personal-best time of 8.39 in the preliminaries, and finished first in the finals. The time ranks fifth on the all-time list at Indiana.
Senior Lorian Price finished second in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46.
In the 200-meter dash, senior Stacey Clausing ran her second-fastest time ever, clocking in at 24.00.
"Courtney looked really good," interim head women's track and field coach Judy Wilson said. "She ran her best between the hurdles. Stacey really got into her race once she got out of the start. She is really pleased that they got the school record last night. We came up here to run the distance medley relay, and everything else was really an afterthought. All of these women are going to move on to the outdoor season and get better."
Indiana will find out which athletes will travel to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Monday, March 5. For the men, senior Kiwan Lawson and junior Kyle Jenkins each have marks that rank in the top 10 nationally in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. On the women's side, freshman Vera Neuenswander ranks in the top 15 in the pole vault. The NCAA Championships begin on March 9.
