April 11, 2008
KNOXVILLE, Ind. - The Hoosiers competed at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday. Competition was brought to a halt at 5:11 p.m. as heavy rain moved into the area. 14 Hoosiers finished competition before the cancellation.
Leading the men's team was senior Marcus Thigpen. Thigpen blazed to a time of 10.34 seconds in the 100m dash. His time is the tenth best recorded in Division I this outdoor season and is the second fastest in IU history. Thigpen passes Russell Brooks for the second spot, bettering the 1997 mark by .01 seconds.
Fellow senior Wil Glover will join Thigpen in Fayetteville, Ark., for the Mideast Regional in May, as he posted a qualifying time in the 100m dash on Friday as well. Glover finished in 10.49 seconds, improving his career best by .04 seconds. The regional standard is 10.50.
Junior Blayne Burkholder finished sixth in the pole vault. His vault of 4.90m was good for a tie for third, and Burkholder moved to sixth after tie-breakers.
