Hoosiers Complete Day Two at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Indiana completed day two of competition at the Penn Relays. The Hoosiers got a pair of top-five finishes and four top-ten finishes along with a pair of heat wins in relays.
Paul Haas took third in the college section of the men's discus. His heave of 52.12m (170-11) was more than two feet better than the fourth-place finisher. Haas had three throws better than the fourth-place heave and four throws over 51 meters.
In the women's 4x1500m relay Championship of America, Indiana took fourth place. The Hoosiers were one of just four teams to finish in under 18 minutes, with a time of 17:58.39. They were more than two seconds better than the fifth-place team. The fastest Hoosier leg came from Molly Beckwith, who ran the second leg in 4:23.2.
Ashley Rhoades took eighth in the championship section of the high jump, clearing 1.75m (5-8.75). The clearance matched the sixth-place mark, but Rhoades finished eighth after tiebreakers.
The Hoosiers were ninth in the men's distance medley Championship of America. They finished in 9:43.25, which was just .06 out of eighth. The Hoosiers got a 47.92 split on the 400m-leg from Chris Vaughn.
Indiana won its heats in the 4x100m relay and the sprint medley relay. In the 4x100m relay, the Hoosiers won the eighth heat with a time of 41.62. In the sprint medley, IU finished in 3:25.30, beating the rest of the heat by more than a second.
