    Hoosiers Open Competition in the 99th Running of the Drake Relays

    DES MOINES, Iowa - The Indiana track and field team opened up competition in the 99th running of the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, April 25.

    IU's men's 4x1600-meter relay team crossed the finish line in second place. The team of Cole Hardacre, Andy Weatherford, Brennon Plotner and Ben Hubers recorded a time of 16:53.43.

    The men's 4x100-meter relay team, made up of Marcus Thigpen, Devin Pipkin, Wil Glover and Keith Heerdegen, won its heat with a regional qualifying time of 40.48. The time also qualified the group for Saturday's final, which is scheduled for 5:32 p.m. ET.

    The Hoosiers' 4x200-meter team also competed in Friday's competition. Thigpen, Pipkin, Heerdegen and Kiwan Lawson recorded a time of 1:27.49 to finish fifth overall.

    The Hoosiers will not only continue action at the Drake Relays on Saturday, but members of the team will also compete in Butler's Stan Lyons Invitational at the IUPUI Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis. That meet is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
