    Siefker Paces IU with Record-Setting 5,000m Run in Team's First Day at Penn Relays

    PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Indiana men's and women's track teams turned in a combined nine top-10 finishes to go along with five personal-best marks in its first day of competition at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 27.

    In the men's 3,000m steeplechase, Eric Redman turned in an eighth-place time of 8:59.33. The time met the NCAA mark in the event. Teammate Chris Honig finished in ninth place, crossing the line in a personal-best 9:11.87.

    On the women's distance side, Stephanie Greer and Jessica Gall turned in personal-best times in the 3,000m and moved into the first two slots for the fastest times in the event for Indiana this season. Greer took seventh place in the event with a time of 9:52.28, while Gall finished just behind her in 10th place, crossing the line in 9:56.27.

    Kelly Siefker earned a NCAA mark in the 5,000m after running the sixth-best time in IU history with a personal-best time of 16:39.37 en route to a sixth-place finish. Just behind her in seventh place, Lindsay Hattendorf met an NCAA standard with a time of 16:42.73. Wendi Robinson rounded out the Hoosier contingent in the 5,000m with a 17th-place finish with a time of 17:01.61.

    Three Hoosiers fared well in the women's long jump. Zakiya Robinson led Indiana in the event with a third-place leap of 5.86m (19-2.75). Additionally, the jump marked a personal best for Robinson in the event. Lorian Price finished in fifth place with a mark of 5.81m (19-0.75), while Candace Perry took 11th with a jump of 5.58m (18-3.75).

     

     

    The Indiana women's relays teams recorded a solid outing. The 4x400m relay team of Michele Huber, LaDonna Ray, Kyndal Carr and Audrey Smoot finished eight in their respective heat with a time of 3:50.74. The IU 4x100m team turned in the best time this season in the event with a 28th-place time of 46.89.
