Hoosiers Close Day Two of Penn Relays with Four Regional-Qualifying Times

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Indiana men's and women's track and field teams concluded action in its second day of competition at the prestigious Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field on April 28. The IU men's 4x100m relay team along with the 4x400m relay team turned in regional qualifying times, while Stephanos Ioannou, who was a member of the 4x100m relay team, met the regional standard in the 110m hurdles.
The Hoosiers 4x100m relay team, comprised of Ioannou, Wil Glover, Keith Heerdegen and Marcus Thigpen, turned in IU's fastest time this season in the event with a regionally-qualifying and seventh-place finish of 40.53.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Treymane Warfield, David Neville, Ryan Smith and Doug Dayhoff, followed suit with a fifth-place finish in their respective heat. The 4x400m relay time of 3:08.16 gave the Hoosiers their second 4x400m relay regional-qualifying standard of the spring and marked a team best in the event.
Ioannou continued to shine for Indiana as he met a regional standard in the 100m hurdles with a 16th-place time of 14:29.
On the women's side, Ara Towns earned one of three of Indiana's top-10 individual finishes of the day with a ninth-place time of 11.87 in the 100m dash.
Larra Overton turned in a personal-best and regional qualifying time in the mile with a ninth-place mark of 4:48.86.
