Weatherford Leads Hoosiers at Billy Hayes Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Despite a rainy evening, the Indiana track and field team recorded a successful outing at its home conclusion with the Billy Hayes Invitational at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington on Friday, May 9.
Freshman Andy Weatherford was the collegiate champion, finishing third overall, in the 1,500-meter invitational with a personal-best time of 3:47.95. Senior Brennon Plotner crossed the finish line in 3:48.27 to finish fifth overall, third collegiately. Freshmen Ben Hubers and Cole Hardacre finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh overall with times of 3:49.26 and 3:50.57, respectively. Senior Ryan Smith was the third collegiate runner to cross the finish line in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.92.
Sophomore Patrick Dalton placed second on the collegiate level, third overall, in the shot put with a mark of 16.26 meters. Senior Tyler Skelton placed third, second on the collegiate level, in the long jump with a leap of 6.77 meters. Freshman Paul Haas placed third in the discus throw with a mark of 49.58 meters. Sophomore Jared Nuxoll placed fourth with a mark of 2.00-meters in the high jump.
Indiana returns to action on May 16-18 when they travel to the Big Ten Championships hosted by the University of Illinois in Champaign.
