EUGENE, Ore. - Aarik Wilson, a ten-time All-American at Indiana, had the third best mark in the qualifying round at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials on July 4. His mark of 16.62m (54-6.5) was just 22 centimeters shy of the top jump, which was recorded by Walter Davis. Wilson last competed for the Hoosiers in 2005, when he won the last four of his ten Big Ten championships.

Wilson's jump advances him to the finals, where he will be joined by Hoosier standout Kyle Jenkins, who took the final qualifying position with his jump of 15.96m (52-4.5). Jenkins, a 2008 Big Ten outdoor champion in the triple jump, had two conference wins over his career and was an All-American in 2006.

Wilson and Jenkins will compete in the finals of the triple jump on Sunday, July 6 at 7 p.m. ET.

Two former Hoosiers saw the end of their Olympic bids on July 4. John Jefferson and Stephen Haas came up just short of advancing.
