    PARK RIDGE, Ill. - After an impressive indoor debut at the Hoosier Open, Indiana junior David Neville earned the Big Ten's first Co-Athlete of the Week honor of the season as announced by the conference on Jan. 10. Neville shares the award with Minnesota's Adam Schnaible.

    Neville, who helped the IU men to a second-place finish at the 2005 Big Ten Championships with a runner-up finish in the 400m, kicked off the season in thrilling fashion at Jan. 7th's Hoosier Open in Gladstein Fieldhouse. On the newly installed 200m banked track, Neville claimed the 400m crown with a time of 46.67. Neville's winning time surpassed his previous personal best time of 46.95 set Dec. 12, 2005 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Additionally, Neville's time at the Hoosier Open met the NCAA's provisional mark in the 400m (47.25).

    The award is Neville's first weekly conference honor of his career. Additionally, the Merrillville, Ind., native earned IUHOOSIERS.com Athlete of the Week.
