    Ketchum Selected Big Ten's Male Athlete of the Week

    1/font>Junior Ryan Ketchum was selected the Big Ten's Male Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

    PARK RIDGE, Ill. – Junior Ryan Ketchum has been named the Big Ten’s Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week, announced the conference on Tuesday.

    Ketchum garners the first Athlete of the Week accolade of the season after his impressive performance in Indiana's season opening meet, the Hoosier Open. The junior earned the Cream and Crimsons lone NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a dominating first-place throw of 17.84 meters in the shot put, more then three meters better then the runner-up. Ketchum also set a personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 18.28 meters, good for second place.

    It is the first time in his career that Ketchum has received the weekly award.
