    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana men's and women's track and field teams are in action for their second meet of the 2004 indoor season on Saturday, Jan. 17. IU welcomes the men's and women's teams from Indiana State and Kent State and the women's squad from Big Ten rival Michigan to Gladstein Fieldhouse. Competition begins at 11 a.m. with the men's long jump and admission in free.

    The meet will be team scored in the following fashion:

    Indiana vs Michigan - Indiana State - Kent State
    Women - Individual Scoring (Points) = 9 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1
    Relay (Points) = 9 - 7 - 6

    Indiana vs Indiana State - Kent State
    Men -
    Individual Scoring (Points) = 7 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1
    Relay(Points) = 7 - 5

    Only two individuals per institution can score in any given event.

    Rankings: The Indiana men's team is ranked tied for 14th in the Jan. 13th version of the Trackwire 25 rankings. The only other ranked team competing this weekend is the Kent State women's team, which is tied for 24th in the poll.

    Last Time Out: Indiana participated in its own Hoosier Open last Saturday to open the 2004 season. The meet, which was not team scored, featured Louisville and the University of Indianapolis.
    A handful of Indiana athletes produced personal bests in the meet. Sophomore Ryan Ketchum had a pair of personal bests today. Ketchum threw 16.82m/55-05.25 in the shot put to finish first in the shot put. In the weigh throw, he hit the 16.23/53-03.00 mark. Andre Grimes ran the 60m in 6.98 to win the event. Sophomore David Neville competed for the first time at Indiana and won the 400m in 48.55.
    Freshman Britain Jorgenson and junior Noah Shelton both cleared 1.97m/6-05.50 in the high jump.

    On the women's side, sophomore Kelly Siefker clocked a personal-best time of 5:02.48 to cross the finish line first in the mile. Sophomore Jean Schaffer, a Bloomington native, cleared 1.74m in the high jump, which set a new personal best.

    Sophomore Andrea Dalla Rosa won both the shot put (14.48m/47-06.25) and the weight throw (15.47m/50-09.25). Junior Ara Towns placed first in the 60m (7.49) and the 200m (25.49). Junior Charlene Maddox ran the 400m in 57.96 to finish first, and Jennifer Cobbina came in first in the long jump with a leap of 5.60m/18-04.50. Junior Larra Overton's time of the 2:15.95 in the 800m.
    Freshman Courtney Johnson made her Hoosier debut and finished first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.91.
