HOOSIERS COMPETE WELL IN USAT&F CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bloomington, Indiana -- The Hoosiers had only a few track athletes compete at the Indiana USA Track and Field Championships held at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse Friday, but those that did compete were impressive.

Junior Kurt Krick continued to shot his power in the shot put with a mark of 18.78m (61-7 1/2) to win the event. Krick has already reached 18.99m (62-3 3/4) this season to stand at fifth in the NCAA standings. Junior Russell Brooks won two events: taking the 60m in 6.74 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA championships and winning the 200m in 21.79.

Sophomore Mikko Simos ran a personal best 1:50.72 to win the 800m, and sophomore Brian Garriotte cleared 4.86m (15-11 1/4) to finish as the top collegiate athlete in the pole vault.

Next Meet: The Hoosiers that qualify will compete at the NCAA Championships March 5-6 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.
