Lloyd Ties School Mark in 60 Meters
March 1, 2002
A number of Hoosiers took their final shot at qualifying for the NCAA Championship at Iowa State on Friday night and more will look to qualify on Saturday at Notre Dame.
At Iowa State four Indiana marks were NCAA provisional qualifying marks, but more impressive, two of them are now the top marks in Indiana history.
Tia Trent, fresh off of a Big Ten Championship, posted a provisional time of 53.32 in the 400 meters to set a new school record in the event. Rico Lloyd equaled the school mark (Russell Brooks) in the 60 meters with a time of 6.72, good to provisionally qualify Lloyd for the NCAA Championship.
Rose Richmond also provisionally qualified for the championship in the long jump with the third best mark in IU history (6.18m). Wasyl Fedoriw's mark of 19.58 in the weight throw was a provisional mark, but not his best of the season.
Other Hoosiers competing at the event included; Christina Archibald (High Jump 1.70m), Tandra Foster (Long Jump 5.99m), Aarik Wilson (Long Jump 7.53m), Llyod (Long Jump 7.16m) and Ryan Sarbinoff (200 Meters 21.54). Foster, Wilson and Sarbinoff all set individual season best marks.
Aarik Wilson (Long Jump-3rd place) 7.53 (24-8.25)-season best
Rico Llyod (Long Jump-5th place) 7.16 (23-6)
Wasyl Fedoriw (Weight Throw-2nd place) 19.58 (64-3)-NCAA provisional qualifier
Ryan Sarbinoff (200 Meters-5th place) 21.54-ties season best
Rico Llyod (60 Meters-1st place) 6.72-ties school record and NCAA provisional qualifier
