BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Indiana track and field athletes Aarik Wilson and Rose Richmond have been named Big Ten Conference Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 30. Wilson shares his honor with Ohio State's Pat Taylor, while Richmond is the lone women's honoree.

Wilson, the 2002 NCAA outdoor and 2003 NCAA indoor runner-up in the triple jump continued his dominance in the triple jump and long jump at the 60th annual Florida Relays. He posted NCAA Regional qualifying leaps en route to individual titles in both events - 16.69m/54-9.25 in the triple jump and 7.89m/25-10.75 in the long jump. Both leaps are career-bests for Wilson, as the triple jump is the third-best mark in school history and the long jump is the fifth-best in IU lore.

Wilson was one of four IU men's athletes to post regional qualifying performances in Gainesville. Pat Miller was eighth in the men\'s javelin (64.71/212-04), Mike Minton was eighth in the shot (16.70/54-09.5) and Adam Judge was fourth in the hammer (63.33m/207-09).

Rose Richmond finished second in the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships in the long jump, and she carried that momentum to the outdoor season - winning the invitational long jump at The Florida Relays with a jump of (6.42m/21-00.75). This is the third-best jump in school history, and Richmond now has two of the top three outdoor long jump performances in the IU record book. Richmond was also part of the Hoosiers' 4x100 relay team (Rachelle Boone, Danielle Carruthers and Ara Towns) who finished third with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 44.09.

Richmond was one of six Hoosier women's athletes to post NCAA Regional Qualifying performances at Gainesville. In addition to Richmond in the long jump and 4x100 relay, Andrea DallaRosa in the shot (14.42) and Lauren Chestnut in the triple jump (4th, 12.56m/41-02.50) also advanced to NCAA Regionals.

Indiana returns to action this weekend at the Texas Relays.
