Ketchum Nabs Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week
April 11, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Indiana men's track and field athlete Ryan Ketchum has been named Big Ten Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on April 11. The honor is the first of his career. Ketchum shares this award with Illinois' Dominique Worsley.
Ketchum is coming off an impressive weekend at the Indiana Relays, in which he reached two NCAA regional standards. He finished first in the shot put with a throw of 18.02m/59-01.50, and took third in the hammer (54.59m/179-1) and discus (32.17m/171-02). His marks in the shot put and discus earned him a trip to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regionals, set for May 26-27 in Knoxville, Tenn.
Ketchum is the first Hoosier to receive weekly outdoor honors since Aarik Wilson garnered the laurel on May 2, 2005.
