    IU'S TOM CHORNY WINS PENN RELAYS STEEPLECHASE

    Philadelphia, Pa. - At the 105th Penn Relays, Indiana University's Tom Chorny won the collegiate steeplechase event with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8:37.18. That time is an IU school record and is also the fastest American time by a collegiate runner this year.

    NCAA automatic qualifying time in the steeplechase is 8:43.00.

    The previous IU record for the steeplechase was held by Charles Marsala who ran a time of 8:38.07 at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships on May 23, 1987.
