    Weekend Action Wraps Up at Penn Relays and Big Ten Preview (04-24-04)

    WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.-- The Indiana track and field team wrapped up its weekend action at the Penn Relays and the Big Ten Invitational at Purdue. At the Purdue meet, four Hoosiers earned first-place honors as Courtney Johnson ran a 14.15 in the 100-meter hurdles, Stephanos Ioannou ran a 14.49 in the 110-meter hurdles, Ashley Groth ran a 2:14.52 in the 800-meter and Kevin Kempf turned in a 54.03 in the 400-meter hurdles.

    Two Hoosiers turned in personal bests at the Purdue meet as Julie Shields ran a personal best in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:47.12 and Trey Warfield turned in a 49.66 in the 400-meter.

    In the final day at the Penn Relays, Aarik Wilson placed first in the triple jump championship section with his third-best jump of the season, 16.64m (54-07.25). Wil Fleming placed ninth in the hammer throw championships with a heave of 58.12m 190-08.00.
