    Drake Relays/Penn Relays - Day 3 Recap (4-26-03)

    Bloomington, Ind. - Several student-athletes on the men's track and field team traveled to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend as competition was completed on Saturday, April 26. Leading Hoosier performers was sophomore Aarik Wilson. His mark of 52'06.75" (16.02m) put him in second place in the triple jump finals. The distance medley relay team of John Jefferson, Ryan Sarbinoff, Russell Hollis and Chris Powers finished third behind Standford and Baylor with a time of 9:48.63. In the hammer finals, senior Adam Judge hit a mark of 211'05" (64.44m) to take fourth in the event. In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, IU's Matt Sweetman finished 10th with a time of 9:24.57.

    Also competing at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind., Ian Curry hit an NCAA provisional mark of 4.90m (16-00.75) to place third in the pole vault. Casey Friske also hit the provisional mark, placing fifth, both topping the season best list. In the 400 meter hurdles, Kevin Kempf finished seventh with a time of 56.67.

    The Hoosiers next travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to face the Purdue Boilermakers in a Big Ten matchup.
