Philadelphia, Pa.--Competing in the final day of the 111th annual running of the Penn Relays, the Indiana 4x400m relay team was crowned the champion of the college men section of this event. The group, consisting of freshman Doug Dayhoff, senior Rodney Hollis, junior Andre Grimes and sophomore David Neville crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 3:10.08, a time that just barely missed the regional qualifying standard of 3:10.00.

The Hoosier mile relay team also turned in a solid performance as they took a third-place finish, clocking in a time of 16:25.11. This time ranks third on the IU all-time list.

Eric Redman got things started for the junior quartet, as he ran the first leg in 4:07.6. Sean Jefferson followed with a 4:01.8 split and finally, Stephen Haas (4:10.3) and John Jefferson (4:05.4) finished things off. The Hoosiers went up against some tough competition, including the eventual of the race Michigan, who set a new collegiate record with a time of 16:04.54 and Arkansas, the three-time defending champion in this event.

In the field events, senior Wil Fleming competed unattached in the Olympic Development Hammer Throw event and finished seventh overall with a throw of 59.01/193-07.00.
