    THE BASICS
    The Indiana track and field teams head to the 2005 Big Ten Outdoor Championships this weekend, May 13-15. This year's championships are hosted by Ohio State and all competition will take place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The first event, the decathlon 100-meters, is set to begin on Friday at Noon. The men's 4x400m relay is the final event of the weekend and is slated to begin at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday.

    MEN RANKED TENTH IN LATEST TRACKWIRE POLL
    According to Trackwire's May 3 poll, the Hoosier men's team ranks 10th in the nation. They are one of three Big Ten Conference teams ranked as Wisconsin and Michigan sit at 13th and 18th, respectively.

    IU MEN AT THE 2004 BIG TENS
    In the final day of the 2004 Big Ten Championships held at Purdue University, nine Hoosiers placed in the top three en route to finishing fourth overall with 92 points.

    David Neville (200m and 400m), Aarik Wilson (triple jump) and Sean Jefferson (1,500m) won individual titles in their respective events.

    Also earning a top-three finishes was the men's 4x100 meter relay team and pole vaulter David Stead. The relay team of Kiwan Lawson, Stephanos Ioannou, Andre Grimes and Courtney Roby had solid performances from the first three legs but in the end it was Roby who stepped up again, serving as the anchor and helped the Hoosiers finish strong with a regional qualifying time of 40.61. putting them third overall. Stead earned a personal best regional qualifying mark of 5.00m (16-04.75) to capture the gold medal in his event.
    In addition, Jake Wiseman grabbed third-place honors in the decathlon with a career-best 7365 points.
