    HOOSIER MEN SET FOR BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

    UPCOMING MEET INFORMATION: The Hoosiers compete at the Big Ten Championships Friday through Sunday May 21st to the 23rd at Rankin Track & Field on the Purdue campus in West Lafayette.

    HEAD COACH MARSHALL GOSS...is in his first year as the Indiana head coach and 16th year with the program.

    LAST TEAM SCORED MEET: West Lafayette, Ind. -- The Indiana men's track and field team continued it's stellar outdoor season by defeating Purdue 107-95. The men's team is now 7-1 on the season. There were several outstanding performances turned in by the Hoosiers. On the men's side, freshman Greg Yeldell won the long jump (22-5.75) and the triple jump with an outdoor best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 51-11.75. Also winning for the Hoosiers were Russell Brooks in the 100m (10.84), Russell Collins in the 200m (22.11), Mikko Simos in the 800m (1:50.02-season-best time), Aaron Gillen in the 1500m (3:52.40), Kenny Beatty in the 110m hurdles (14.79),Bryan Holcomb in the steeplechase (9:27.53), Jeremy Rochford in the high jump (6-10.75-season-best mark), Krick in the discus (164-5), and Brian Bowman threw a season-best mark in the javelin at 179-5. Krick also placed second in the shot put (55-11.25) and Beatty was second in the 400m hurdles (55.61). Chris Ekman placed second in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:51.64. Nick Sears placed second behind Beatty in the 110m hurdles (14.83), and Brian Garriotte was second in the pole vault (16-4.75).

    LOOKING TO QUALIFY: Three Hoosiers have reached their events NCAA provisional qualifying mark and are looking to solidify a position at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Tom Chorny has the third best time in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:37.18) and the 27th best time in the 5,000m (13:55.98), Greg Yeldell is 17th in the triple jump with his mark of 15.84m (51-11 3/4), and Kurt Krick is 26th in the shot put at 18.07m (59-3 1/2).

    ERIC ANDERSON: 110m hurdles - took eighth in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a time of 15.30...ran a 15.28 to place fifth at Purdue...seventh in 15.9 at the Indiana Big Four.

    400m hurdles - finished in 58.61 at the Billy Hayes Invitational...fifth at Purdue with a 56.90.

    KENNY BEATTY: 110m hurdles - fourth in the Billy Hayes Invitational in 14.79...raced to victory in 14.79 at Purdue...finished in 14.74 to place sixth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...second in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (15.13)...ran a 15.6 to take sixth at the Indiana Big Four.

    400m hurdles - finished in 56.53 at the Billy Hayes Invitational...55.61 was second at Purdue...fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 55.55...ran a 55.22 to finish fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    DAN BILLISH: 800m - crossed in 2:02.72 to finish seventh at Purdue...finished in 1:57.59 to take fifth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...sixth at the Indiana Big Four (1:54.5)...ran a 1:58.73 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    BRIAN BOWMAN: High jump - jumped over 1.98m (6-6) to finish fourth at Purdue...cleared 2.03m (6-8) at the Purdue Open...tied for fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by going over 2.03m (6-8).

    Long jump - mark of 6.25m (44-2) took third at Purdue.

    Triple jump - leapt 13.46m (44-2) to finish third at Purdue.

    Pole vault - third at Purdue with a vault over 4.70m (15-5)...cleared 4.36m (14-3 1/2) to finish fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...vaulted over 4.40m at the Purdue Open.

    Javelin - third in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a throw of 51.60m (169-3)...threw 54.68m (179-5) at Purdue for his first career victory...second with a throw of 51.74m (169-9) in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...mark of 53.17m (174-5) was second in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    Decathlon - scored 4,672 points at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    TOM BRECKENRIDGE: 1,500m - finished in 4:09.7 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    5,000m - crossed in 16:19.16 to finish sixth at Purdue...fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 15:35.11...ran a 16:33.44 to place seventh in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    CHRIS BRUNT: 400m hurdles - fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by finishing in 54.67...ran a 54.2 to win the Indiana Big Four...11th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (57.34).

    RUSSELL BROOKS: 100m - victorious at Purdue with a time of 10.84...won the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 10.61...finished second in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (10.91)...ran a 10.8 to finish second at the Indiana Big Four...sixth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (10.63).

    200m - ran a 20.94 to win the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...sixth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (22.34)...second at the Indiana Big Four (21.8)...ran a 21.87 to finish 11th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    KEVIN CHANDLER: 800m - finished in 1:53.47 to place 11th in the Billy Hayes Invitational...sixth at Purdue in 1:55.80...ninth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a time of 1:57.17.

    JONATHAN CHASE: Discus - improved to 41.48m (136-1) in the Billy Hayes Invitational...eight in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a mark of 40.30m (132-3)...ninth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a throw of 39.26m (128-10).

    Hammer - tenth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a mark of 38.40m (126-0)...improved almost five meters to 42.07m at the Purdue Open...threw 37.30m (122-4) to place 10th in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    TOM CHORNY: 800m - ran a 1:55.57 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet to place sixth.

    1,500m - fifth in the Billy Hayes invitational with a time of 3:50.25...third at Purdue in 4:00.87...won the National Invitational with a time of 3:59.50...won the Indiana Big Four in 3:59.2.

    3,000m steeplechase - time of 9:05.49 won the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...won the Penn Relays with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8:37.18 which set a new IU record...finished in 8:52.9 to take second at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    5,000m - reached the NCAA provisional mark with a 13:55.46 at Stanford...second at the Indiana Big Four, finishing in 15:02.3.

    SEAN CLEARY: 200m - finished in 23.13 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    400m - placed 11th in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a time of 49.07...finished in 48.87 to take third at Purdue...ran a 48.95 in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...eighth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (50.19)...ran a 49.0 to place fourth at the Indiana Big Four...14th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a time of 49.76.

    RUSSELL COLLINS: 200m - won at Purdue in 22.11...ran a 22.28 at the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet to finish fourth.

    400m - finished seventh with a season best 48.40 in the Billy Hayes Invitational...ran a 49.07 to grab fourth at Purdue...in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet, took fifth with a 49.14...seventh at the Indiana Big Four (50.0)...ran a 49.61 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational to finish 12th.

    MIKE COLSTON: 5,000m - sixth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (16:17.15)...ran a 15:47.5 to finish 11th at the Indiana Big Four.

    FRANK DiSILVESTRO: Long jump - third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a jump of 6.65m (21-10)...jumped 6.70m (21-11 3/4) to place fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...fifth with a 6.36m (20-10 1/2) at the Indiana Big Four...reached 6.91m (22-8) to finish ninth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    Triple jump - third in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a jump of 13.95m (45-9 1/4)...mark of 13.17m (43-2 1/2) to place fifth at the Indiana Big Four...placed sixth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a mark of 13.54m (44-5 1/4).

    DINO EFTHIMIOU: Pole vault - tied for third in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by vaulting over 4.50m (14-9)...cleared 4.55m (14-11) to finish 11th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    Long jump - covered 6.94m (22-9 1/4) to take second in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...seventh at the Baldy Castillo with a leap of 7.09m (23-3 1/4).

    CHRIS EKMAN: 800m - time of 1:51.64 was second at Purdue...ran a 1:52.6 to finish second at the Indiana Big Four...finished sixth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a time of 1:52.20.

    1,500m - time of 3:55.16 was fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...won the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a time of 3:52.3...ran a 3:52.63 to place 12th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    RAHEEM ELLIS: Named Track Athlete-of-the-Meet at the Indiana Big Four by winning the 100m (10.4) and the 200m (21.1).

    100m - finished sixth at the Penn Relays with a time of 10.55...ran a 10.60 to win the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...won the Indiana Big Four in 10.4...fifth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (10.55).

    200m - won the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet in 21.00...ran a 21.1 to win the Indiana Big Four...ran a 21.31m to finish fourth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    WASYL FEDORIW: Shot put - threw 14.25m (46-9) in the Billy Hayes invitational...fourth at Purdue with a mark of 14.53m (47-8)...throw of 15.08m (49-5 3/4) was fifth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...threw 15.24m (50-0) to place fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...third at the Indiana Big Four with a throw of 14.58m (47-10)...11th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (14.00m; 45-11 1/4).

    Discus - mark of 37.78m (123-11) was fourth at Purdue...at the Purdue Open, threw 32.56m (106-10) for the second consecutive meet...throw of 32.56m (106-10) to finish 10th at the Indiana Big Four.

    Hammer - threw 38.46 (126-2) to place fourth at Purdue...mark of 37.46m (122-11) in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet to finish ninth...11th at the Indiana Big Four (35.50m; 116-6)

    MICHAEL FRAZIER: 400m - finished in 49.07 to place 12th in the Billy Hayes Invitational...second at Purdue with a time of 48.65...ran a 49.13 to finish fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    BRIAN GARRIOTTE: Pole vault - won the Billy Hayes Invitational by vaulting over 5.05m (16-6 3/4)... improved to 5.00m (16-4 3/4) to grab second at Purdue...cleared 4.66m (15-3 1/2) to finish fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by vaulting over 4.50m (14-9)...cleared 4.45m (14-7 1/4) to take third at the Indiana Big Four...went over 4.70m (15-5) to finish ninth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    Javelin - fourth at Purdue with a throw of 44.42m (145-9)...threw 42.55m (139-7) to place fifth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...seventh in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a mark of 37.23m (122-2).

    AARON GILLEN: 800m - finished in the 1:55.20 to take fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    1,500m - took second in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a time of 3:48.81...won the Purdue meet with a time of 3:52.40...took second in 3:47.25 in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...second, finishing in 3:59.5 at the Indiana Big Four.

    5,000m - improved to 14:18.11 at the Purdue Open...won the Indiana Big Four, finishing in 14:59.4...ran a 14:34.31 to finish eighth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    BRAD GRIGGS: 400m - sixth at Purdue with a time of 49.41...ran a 48.65 to place third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...finished in third with a 49.01 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...11th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (49.43).

    DAVID HMUROVICH: High jump - cleared 1.90m (6-2 3/4) in the Billy Hayes Invitational.

    BRYAN HOLCOMB: 1,500m - improved to 3:58.08 in the Billy Hayes Invitational...ran a 4:06.73 at the Purdue Open.

    3,000m steeplechase - raced to victory at Purdue in 9:27.53...second in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 9:26.66...finished in 9:15.1 to win the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...won the Indiana Big Four in 9:30.02.

    TREY HOWELL: 3,000m steeplechase - finished in 9:52.65 to finish 10th in the Billy Hayes Invitational.

    5,000m - fourth at Purdue by finishing in 15:50.10...ran a 15:26.56 to finish third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a 16:09.54.

    10,000m - finished in 32:19.90 at the Purdue Open.

    RYAN HUBER: 400m - second with a time of 48.9 at the Indiana Big Four.

    400m hurdles - placed seventh at the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a time of 55.43.

    KURT KRICK: Shot put - third in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a mark of 17.54m (57-6 1/2)...threw 17.05m (55-11 1/4) to take second at Purdue...second in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a throw of 17.51m (57-5 1/2)...top collegiate in the national Invitational with a mark of 17.80m (58-4 3/4)...sixth at the Penn Relays with a mark of 57-5...dominated in winning the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with an NCAA provisional throw of 18.07m (59-3 1/2)...threw 16.55m (54-3 3/4) to win the Indiana Big Four...won the Baldy Castillo Invitational with a throw of 17.78m (58-4).

    JON LANGE: High jump - 10th in the Billy Hayes Invitational (2.00m; 6-6 3/4)...sixth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State by clearing 2.06m (6-9tied for third in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by going over 2.03m (6-8)...cleared 2.00m (6-6 3/4) to place second at the Indiana Big Four.

    KEVIN MOORE: 800m - ran a 1:59.70 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (10th place).

    1,500m - 4:04.37 was fourth at Purdue...finished fifth with a 4:01.2 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    ONEX MOORE: 100m - ran an 11.22 in the Billy Hayes Invitational...finished in 11.20 to take fourth at Purdue...placed fifth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (11.32).

    200m - fourth in 23.00 at the Purdue meet.

    BRIAN NORRIS: Long jump - mark of 6.59m (21-7 1/2) was fourth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...improved to 6.77m at the Purdue Open...sixth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a mark of 6.69m (21-11 1/2).

    NEIL O'REILLY: 800m - ran a 1:54.70 in the Billy Hayes Invitational...third at Purdue with a time of 1:53.97.

    BEN PISTER: High jump - cleared 2.10m (6-10 3/4) at Purdue to finish second...tied for third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State by clearing 2.06m (6-9)...cleared 2.08m at the Purdue Open...tied for fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by going over 2.03m (6-8)...fifth at the Indiana Big Four (1.90m; 6-2 3/4).

    JOE RICE: Triple jump - fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (13.56m; 44-6).

    ZACH RITZ: Long jump - leapt 6.28m (20-7 1/4) in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    JEREMY ROCHFORD: High jump - sixth in the Billy Hayes Invitational (2.04m; 6-8 1/4)...cleared 2.10m (6-10 3/4) to win at Purdue...tied for third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State by clearing 2.06m (6-9)...cleared 1.98m (6-6) to take fifth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    NICK SEARS: 110m hurdles - took second at Purdue in 14.83...fifth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State (14.58)...ran a 15.27 to finish fourth in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...third at the Indiana Big Four (15.1)...ran a 15.23 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational to finish fifth.

    400m hurdles - ran a 53.33 to take second in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...second in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet with a time of 53.81...ran a 54.7 to finish second at the Indiana Big Four...eighth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in 56.10.

    RYAN SHAW: Javelin - threw 35.00m (114-10) to place seventh in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State...eighth at the Indiana Big Four with a throw of 36.92m (121-1).

    MIKKO SIMOS: 800m - ran a 1:50.71 to finish second in the Billy Hayes Invitational...won in 1:50.02 at Purdue...finished third in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 1:53.69...won in 1:51.63 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...fourth with a time of 1:53.2 at the Indiana Big Four...finished eighth in 1:52.56 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    1,500m - finished in 3:51.4 to place eighth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    Javelin - threw 38.68m (122-11) to place seventh at the Indiana Big Four.

    BOSCO SITATI: 400m - ran a 49.79 in the Billy Hayes Invitational...crossed the finish line in 49.95 to place eighth at Purdue.

    TOM TAYLOR: 800m - competed at the Purdue Open and finished in 2:00.87.

    1,500m - ran a 4:14.19 to finish seventh at Purdue...sixth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State with a time of 3:57.90...ran a 4:19.0 in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet.

    JON TEIPEN: 3,000m steeplechase - ninth in the Billy Hayes Invitational with a time of 9:49.20...finished in 9:46.98 to place third at Purdue...third in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet (9:34.0).

    5,000m - ran a 15:47.17 to place sixth in the USATC Collegiate Series meet with Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana State.

    JEREMY ROCHFORD: High jump - tied for third in the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet by going over 2.03m (6-8)...cleared 1.98m (6-6) to take fifth at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

    BRANDON WEISS: 5,000m - took fifth at Purdue with a time of 16:17.01...ran a 16:07.58 in the National Invitational.

    Triple jump - victorious at Purdue with a leap of 15.84m (51-11 3/4)...jumped 15.35m (20-4 1/2) to win the Cincinnati/Western Michigan meet...won the Indiana Big Four with a mark of 15.49m (50-10)...reached 15.37m (50-5 1/4) to finish second at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.
