Carson, Calif. - Indiana distance runner Sean Jefferson ran a 3:41.74 to finish fourth in the 1500 meters at the Home Depot Invitational Saturday in Carson, California.

Jefferson, the 2004 NCAA National Championship in the indoor mile, was the only collegian in the field. He fell short of his goal of running an Olympic A Standard time of 3:36.20 or an Olympic B Standard time of 3:38.00.

Jefferson's top time in the 1500 meters this season was a 3:40.90 clocked at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, Calif., on April 17. That time ranks fifth on the collegiate descending order list this outdoor season.

The Home Depot Invitational included some of track and field's biggest names, with Marion Jones, Maurice Greene and Gail Devers all competing in the meet.

He and several other Hoosiers return to action when they compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Meet from May 28-29 in Baton Rouge, La.
