    HOOSIERS FINISH EIGHTH

    West Lafayette, Indiana -- The IU men's track and field team finished eighth at the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Purdue Friday through Sunday.

    Junior Kurt Krick was the Hoosiers top finisher during Sunday's competition with a second place throw in the shot put of 17.64m (57-10 1/2). Freshman Greg Yeldell also scored in the field events Sunday. Yeldell took fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.38m (50-5 1/2).

    On the track, junior Russell Brooks scored twice. Brooks took fourth in the 100m (10.74) and fifth in the 200m (21.80). IU freshman Kenny Beatty and junior Nick Sears finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 110m hurdles. Beatty crossed in 14.80 with Sears right behind at 14.82. Sophomore Mikko Simos rounded out the track scorers with fourth place in the 800m at 1:50.97.
