Jenkins Claims Fourth in Triple Jump at NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Indiana sophomore Kyle Jenkins adds to the Indiana jumps legacy, earning the first All-American honor of his career with a fourth-place finish in the finals of the triple jump at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 10.
Under beautiful skies at Sacramento State's Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex, the Kent, Wash., product took fourth with a personal-best mark of 16.19m (53-01.50) on his third attempt in the finals of the triple jump. Moreover, Jenkins becomes the third straight outdoor All-American in the triple jump and the fifth in five years for Indiana.
Jenkins advanced to the finals after leaping to a first-place finish with a mark of 15.97m (52-04.75) in Friday's prelims.
Jenkins' finish moved the Hoosier men into a tie for 20th place with 11 points.
