    INDIANAPOLIS - Current and former Indiana track and field athletes shined at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the USA Junior Track and Field Championships, June 21-25, at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI. Former Hoosier standout Rose Richmond took home the long jump crown, while Aarik Wilson claimed third place in the triple jump. All-American David Neville continued to impress in the 400m by taking third place in the 400m finals.

    Richmond, a four-time All-American, claimed the long jump title after clearing 6.93m (22-09.00) in the finals of the event.

    Neville advanced through to the finals of the 400m after nabbing seventh in the semifinals before turning in his best time of the meet in the finals for a third-place finish. The Merrillville, Ind., native turned in his best time of the meet, 44.75, in the finals.

    NCAA qualifier Kyle Jenkins and former IU great Wilson competed in the men's triple jump. Jenkins took sixth place with a mark of 15.72m (51-07.00), while Wilson clinched third with a leap of 16.91m (55-05.75).

    In the women's 100m, 2006 Big Ten Champion Ara Towns finished 25th in prelims of the event with a time of 11.80. Former Hoosier Rachelle Boone-Smith advanced through to the finals en route to a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 11:21.

    After advancing to the finals of the women's 3,000m steeplechase, All-American Kelly Siefker took 13th in the event with a time of 10:31.32.

    Hoosier great Danielle Carruthers advanced to the semifinals of the women's 100m hurdles. Carruthers, who missed the cut for the finals by one place, finished in ninth place with a time of 13.08.

    Jeff Coover took 11th in the junior men's pole vault, clearing 4.75m (15-07.00). In the men's hammer throw, Wil Fleming recorded a 21st-best mark of 61.74m (202-01).

    Former Hoosiers Tom Brooks and Tom Chorney competed in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Both runners advanced to the finals placing sixth and 13th in the prelims, respectively. In the finals, Brooks finished in fifth with a time of 8:28.24.

    In the prelims of the men's 1,500m, Sean Jefferson claimed 22nd place with a time of 3:51.80, while John Jefferson finished just behind him in 23rd in 3:52.32.

    Caitlin Lauer finished 22nd in the prelims of the junior women's 800m with a time of 2:20.84.
