Ketchum, Smith, Redman Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana track and field student-athletes Ryan Ketchum, Eric Redman and Ryan Smith were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team, announced the association on July 13.
Ketchum competed in the shot put at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Hutchinson, Kan., native finished in 20th place with a throw of 17.76m (59-03.25). Ketchum also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this season and was a fitness specialist major.
Redman, who advanced to the finals of the 1,500m at the 2006 Mideast Regional, took seventh place in the finals with a time of 3:49.73. Redman was a political science major.
Smith earned a spot on the all-academic team after helping the Indiana men's 4x400m relay team to a fifth-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championships. The Bloomington, Ind., product is majoring in biology.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have met the NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standard in his event.
