BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- The Indiana men's track and field program has announced the 2006 schedule, director of track and field Randy Heisler announced on Thursday.

For the indoor season, the Hoosiers will have the luxury of competing on their home track for entire month of January and into the first week of February, as they host the Hoosier Open (Jan. 7), Hoosier Classic (Jan. 14), Indiana Open (Jan. 21), Indiana Invitational (Jan. 28) and the Hoosier Relays (Feb. 3-4) at Gladstein Fieldhouse.

IU will then travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the annual Tyson Invitational (Feb. 11-12) hosted by the University of Arkansas, before returning home for its final indoor meet of the season, the Hoosier Hills Invite (Feb. 18).

The Big Ten Conference Men's Indoor Championships will be held in Iowa City, Iowa, from Feb. 25-26. Meanwhile, the women will head to Madison, Wis., to participate in the league championships on the same dates.

Athletes that did not meet the qualifying standard in their respective events will have one more chance to make themselves eligible for the NCAA Championships, when they travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson "Last Chance" Meet on March 4 at the University of Notre Dame. The final meet of the 2006 indoor season will be the NCAA Championships, which is hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 10-11.

For the third-straight year, the Hoosiers begin the outdoor season in sunny Florida, when they take part in the Florida Relays in Gainesville Fla., on March 24-25. While the majority of the team will compete at this event, several others will also head west to run at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

After taking a year off from the Texas Relays last season, Indiana will send athletes to the prestigious event held in Austin, Texas, on April 1-2.

The first outdoor home meet for IU will be on April 7-8, when it hosts the third annual Indiana Relays. The Hoosiers then hit the road for the Mt. Sac Relays (April 14-15) in Walnut, Calif., and the Penn Relays (April 27-28) in Philadelphia, Penn. The Billy Hayes Invitational (May 5) will be the final home meet for Indiana as they prepare for the Big Ten Championships. This year's championships (men and women) will be hosted by Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., on May 13-14.

For the fourth-straight year, the NCAA Regional format will be in effect. Indiana, who belongs to the Mideast Region, will head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Regional meet on May 26-27.

Finally, the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championships will once again be held in Sacramento, Calif., on June 7-10.
