    Made his third trip to the NCAA Championships in as many seasons after finishing sixth at the Big Tens ... earned the No. 12 seed at the NCAAs ... finished the year 20-13 overall, 13-5 in duals with three pins, two tech falls and three major decisions ... placed second at the Michigan State Open ... tallied two tech falls, two major decisions and a 5-0 mark in the Hoosier Duals ... pinned both opponents at the F.I.T.E. Duals ... began the Midlands with a pin and major decision in the first two rounds ... won his only contest at the National Duals, defeating #11 Tyler McCormick of Missouri, 7-3 ... 2-for-2 at the Hoosier Quad ... twice defeated Ohio State's Reece Humphrey who was ranked in the top-15 on both occasions ... finished the regular season ranked 12th nationally at 133-lbs.

    Sophomore Season (2006-07)
    Took his second trip to the NCAA Championships in as many years, earning All-American status with an eighth place finish ... posted an overall record of 30-16 ... tallied four wins (one in the main draw, three in the wrestleback) at the NCAAs, including a 7-5 triumph over No. 9 Jimmy Kennedy from Illinois ... went 13-5 in dual meets and 5-3 in the Big Ten, scoring a team-leading six technical falls to go along with six major decisions and four pins ... finished second at the Big Ten Championships as a six seed, knocking off No. 9 Mack Reiter and No. 8 Jimmy Kennedy before being bested by No. 2 Nick Simmons in the finals ... finished second at the Missouri Open, falling to No. 4 Matt Keller of Chattanooga in the finals ... posted a fifth-place finish at Midlands, with his only two losses coming to the top two seeds in the tournament.

    Freshman Season (2005-06)
    Had a stellar year as a redshirt freshman, qualifying for his first NCAA Championship after finishing seventh at Big Tens at 133 pounds ... accumulated a 27-10 record, 14-3 in duals and 7-1 in Big Ten matches ... finished third at the Missouri Open ... won eight straight matches (11/20-26) ... finished runner-up at the Mat Town Invitational ... went 7-6 against ranked opponents ... ranked as high as 18th in the country ... finished with eight pins on the season coupled with five technical falls and two major decisions.

    Redshirt Season (2004-05)
    Posted a 6-3 record competing unattached ... finished fourth at the Missouri Open (10/21), recording his first fall of the season ... had a second-place finish at the Central Missouri State Roger Denker Open (1/15) ... posted two falls on the year.

    Two-time state champion ... finished third in 2001 and fourth in 2000 ... led high school to a second-place team finish ... earned a total of 10 letters ... cousin of teammate Angel Escobedo ... has two brothers, Marcus and Rene, and one sister, Jennifer ... son of Josie and Rene Hernandez ... born on Aug. 16, 1985 ... majoring in General Studies.
