    JUNIOR SEASON (2010-11)
    Started all 19 dual matches for IU, earning nine wins ... recorded a 15-17 overall record, including six pins and three major decisions ... his half dozen falls ranked third on the team... ripped off four straight wins to finish second at the Michigan State Open ... opened the season by sticking his first opponent in just six seconds ... pinned all three foes in the IU Quad ... picked up a 9-1 major decision in the Michigan State dual.

    SOPHOMORE SEASON (2009-10)
    Totaled 10 wins, four falls and three major decisions on the season ... started 17 of 19 dual matches at 133 lbs. ... went 4-1 in the Hoosier Duals with lone defeat coming by just one point against No. 20 Tristen DeShazer (Northern Illinois) ... earned bonus points in each of his victories at the Michigan State Open, Las Vegas Invitational and Southern Scuffle with two pins and a major.

    FRESHMAN SEASON (2008-09)
    Showed the ability to rack up huge bonus points, compiling 85 team points while starting all 23 dual matches ... totaled 10 pins and six major decisions on the season ... posted an overall mark of 23-13 ... went on a midseason six-match streak in which he pinned five of his opponents ... strung together a separate nine-match winning streak earlier in the season ... was victorious in all eight matches of the Hoosier Duals and IU Quad ... won four of six matches at the Las Vegas Open ... placed seventh with a pair of victories at the Big Ten Championships.

    REDSHIRT SEASON (2007-08)
    Went 10-7 with a fall and three major decisions during his redshirt season ... won eight of 11 matches at the Missouri and Cleveland State Opens ... his 4-1 run at the CSU Open garnered a fifth place finish in the 133-lb. division ... pinned Michael Walkip (Central Oklahoma) just before the final buzzer at 6:48 in the Missouri Open ... defeated back-to-back Bloomsburg wrestlers in the Kent State Open by scores of 14-2 and 8-4.

    A four-time New Mexico state champion ... posted a career record of 178-7 ... NHSCA Senior national champion ... also won the Reno Tournament of Champions ... was a member of the Asics All-American team ... was ranked #2 in the nation and the top-ranked senior ... the son of Aaron and Bridget Ortega ... has a brother, Max, and a sister, Sarah ... born on June 3, 1988 ... majoring in Exercise Science.
