    FRESHMAN SEASON (2009-10)
    Took on a heavy workload in his freshman campaign, competing in six tournaments and placing four times ... highest finish came in the Missouri Open Freshman/Sophomore division, making a run to the finals and snagging second place ... won six of seven bouts at the Michigan State Open to place third in the 141 pounds F/S division ... pinned four opponents in the Greyhound Open, finishing in fifth ... also placed in his first career collegiate event, taking seventh in the Eastern Michigan Open F/S division ... compiled an overall record of 19-11 with eight falls and three major decisions ... eight-pin total was tied for third most on the team ... earned the start at 141 lbs. for the dual versus Cleveland State ... strung together an eight-match winning streak midseason.

    A five-time New Mexico state champion, just the second wrestler to do so in New Mexico state history ... posted a combined record of 98-1 during his junior (49-0) and senior (49-1) seasons ... also led the Rams to four team state championships ... earned All-America honors at the NHSCA Senior Nationals with a runner-up finish ... won his division at the Junior Nationals ... the son of Bridget and Aaron Ortega ... born on September 1, 1989 ... his brother Matt was a four-time state champ and is a redshirt sophomore on the Hoosier wrestling team ... also has a sister, Sarah ... intends to major in Biology.
