Feb. 15, 2014
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - #19 Indiana (9-9) wrapped up the 2013-14 regular season with a pair of wins on Saturday, cruising past Lindenwood-Belleville and SIUE by a combined score of 68-18. Four Hoosiers posted 2-0 marks individually on the day, including redshirt freshman Trevor Moody who ran his current winning streak to four straight bouts.
The Hoosiers dominated Lindenwood-Belleville, taking eight of 10 bouts and handing over the other pair of bouts. IU forfeited the heavyweight bout and allowed an injured Preston Keiffer to take the mat at 184 pounds as a farewell for the senior, instantly taking an injury default. Indiana posted bonus points in six of its eight victories. Alonzo Shepherd got it started with a pin at 125 pounds, followed by six more team points at 133 pounds from Chris Caton. Moody and Eric Roach kept it going, each recording technical falls. After a forfeit at 157 pounds, Ryan LeBlanc kept the tech fall parade coming with a 21-4 drubbing. Matt Irick and TJa Hohenadel tallied winning decisions as well.
Moody, Roach, Alex Gregory and LeBlanc notched their second triumphs of the day against SIUE. Redshirt junior Joe Duca made his return from a knee injury suffered just before the start of Big Ten season. He bumped up to 133 pounds and carded a 5-2 decision over Patrick Myers.
Moody posted his first career pin, sticking John Petrov just before the buzzer to end the second period (4:59). Indiana received a tech fall from Roach and decisions by Gregory, LeBlanc, Sheridan, Cheney Dale and Adam Chalfant. Dale went out with a win in his final match as a Hoosier. Meanwhile, Chalfant concluded the regular season with an overall mark of 23-2.
