Chalfant Named co-Big Ten Wrestler of the Week
Jan. 7, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten office honored redshirt senior Adam Chalfant on Tuesday (Jan. 7), naming the Hoosier heavyweight a co-Big Ten Wrestler of the Week. He shares the weekly accolade with Penn State's David Taylor.
Chalfant dominated a match-up with the second-ranked heavyweight in the country, Mike McMullan from Northwestern, to earn the conference recognition. He took down the 2013 NCAA Finalist three times and turned him for three near-fall points. Meanwhile, McMullan's offensive attack was completely stymied by Chalfant with just four escape points recorded. The Hoosier heavyweight has won 16 of 17 bouts this season and is ranked fifth nationally.
It marks the second B1G Wrestler of the Week laurel for IU this season after Taylor Walsh was tabbed as such following the opening weekend (Nov. 5).
