BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University wrestling team is ranked 15th in the country, according to the USA Today/Intermat/NWCA preseason poll released earlier this week. Additionally, five Hoosiers can be found in the top ten of the individual weight class rankings.

2007 All-Americans Angel Escobedo (125 lbs.) and Andrae Hernandez (133 lbs.) lead the way for IU, both ranked third in their respective weight classes. Matt Coughlin also earned All-American status last season, and begins the season ranked fourth at 165 pounds. Two-time All-American Brandon Becker is slotted eighth at 157 pounds and 184-pound Marc Bennett also sits at number eight in the preseason rankings.

The Big Ten Conference dominates the first poll of the season, as nine Big Ten institutions can be found in the top 17, including Minnesota at No. 1. The USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Coaches Poll is voted on by a representative member of each Division I wrestling conference and one wild card. The individual rankings are voted on by members of the National Wrestling Media Association.
