Big Ten Tabs Taylor Walsh as the Wrestler of the Week
Nov. 5, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Redshirt junior Taylor Walsh earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Week accolades after a dominating performance at the Clarion Open, announced the conference office on Tuesday (Nov. 5).
Walsh opened the 2013-14 season with a bang, cruising to the Clarion Open 157-pound title. He pinned the first four foes he stepped on the mat with before surrendering a lone point to Ohio State's Randell Languis in a 7-1 crown-clinching finals decision. The falls came in a timely fashion as well, three of which ended the bout in the first round.
Just one day into his junior season, Walsh has racked up 25 career falls (six shy of IU's all-time top-10). He is ranked ninth nationally at 157 pounds.
Walsh is the first Hoosier to be named B1G Wrestler of the Week since Paul Young on Nov. 30, 2010.
