    JUNIOR YEAR (2004)
    Ran the team's second-fastest time at the NCAA Championship (32:50.8), good for 122nd-place overall • captured a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Region en route to helping the Hoosiers take a fifth-place standing • helped IU to a runner-up finish at the Big Ten Championship, finishing ninth overall in the 8,000m race • during the indoor track season, became just the 266th American to run a sub-4-minute mile at the Meyo Classic in South Bend • twin brother Sean accomplished the same feat, making them just the 14th set of brothers and fourth set of twins to break four minutes in the mile • of the 14 sets of brothers, they are the first that are both American born • earned his third All-American honor at the NCAA Indoor Championship with a seventh-place finish in the mile • qualified for Mideast Regional in the 1,500m.

    SOPHOMORE YEAR (2003)
    Sat out entire 2003 season with a knee injury.

    FRESHMAN YEAR (2002)
    John and Sean Jefferson became the first IU rookies since Olympian Bob Kennedy (1988) to earn all-league honors in their inaugural campaign • John Jefferson was the top Indiana runner in every meet during the season • was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year for his fourth-place overall finish in the league, joining Kennedy (1988) and Marcus Bakken (1997) as the only IU runners to ever win this award • posted a career-best 24:07 performance in the 8K event • named Big Ten Runner of the Week for the period ending Sept. 22 after he won the Indiana Intercollegiates individual title to help his team to its second Intercollegiates title in three years • Big Ten champion and NCAA indoor runner-up in the mile • competed in the 1,500m at USA Track and Field Championships • also was the Mt. Sac 1,500m champion.
