Indiana Rolls Over Ranked Foes at the Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Indiana men's cross country team took the team crown at the Paul Short Run, outrunning two ranked teams in the process. Redshirt freshman Andy Bayer set the pace for the Hoosiers, finishing in third place. He was one of four Hoosiers to place in the top ten, and the fifth IU runner to cross the line, Andy Weatherford took 21st and was only 27 seconds off the winner. The Hoosiers finished with 44 points, No. 7 Iona finished second with 55 points and No. 19 North Carolina State was third with 87 points.
Bayer was third in 23:42 and he was followed in by Andrew Poore in sixth (23:46), Zach Mayhew in seventh (23:49), and Cole Hardacre in eighth (23:50). Weatherford finished in 24:07. Bayer's time was just two seconds out of first place, and it ties him for fifth all-time on the Goodman Campus Course at Lehigh.
The women's team took third, paced by Wendi Robinson, who finished fourth in 20:04. She was one of three Hoosiers to finish in the top twenty. Junior Sarah Pease was 12th in 20:30 and sophomore Chelsea Blanchard took 19th in 20:51. Robinson's time ties her for the tenth fastest in the course's history.
