Plotner Leads Hoosier Harriers to Third Place at 72nd Oklahoma State Jamboree
Oct. 4, 2008
STILLWATER, Okla. - Redshirt senior Brennon Plotner placed 14th among a field of 244 runners in the 72nd Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree men's 8K race in a season-best 24:41 to pace the Indiana men's cross country team to a third place finish (98 pts.).
Plotner was followed by senior Timothy McLeod in 15th place with a time of 24:47. Sophomore Ben Hubers crossed the finish line in 24:48 for 16th place and was followed by classmate Cole Hardacre, who finished in 23rd place in 24:59. Redshirt freshman Andrew Poore wrapped up the Hoosier top-five in 30th place with a time of 25:17.
"We had Ben in the group today and he ran like we thought he would," IU head cross country and track and field coach Ron Helmer said. "With Tim McLeod running where and how we knew he could and with Brennon running well, I'm happy with how those three competed today. Looking in the past with how Andrew Poore competed at the Intercollegiates and how Cole Hardacre stepped up toward the end of last season, that gives us a pretty good reason to be optimistic once we get closer to the championship season. Everyone really had a good, solid run today."
The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they get their first look at the site of the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., at the Pre-Nationals meet. The event is slated to begin at 11 a.m. ET at LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
