Indiana Men's Cross Country Compete at Pre-Nationals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Mark Fruin led the Indiana men's cross country team with a career-best time as it finished 34th with a team score of 730 in the men's 8K blue race at Pre-Nationals on Oct. 14. The race was held at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind., which is the site of the 2006 NCAA Championships.
Fruin, who posted a career-best time of 24:49 for 90th in the 8K, led the IU pack for the first time this season.
Senior Marcus Aguilar (25:08/138th), sophomore Timothy McLeod (25:10/142nd), junior Brennon Plotner (25:10/144th) and freshman Darryl Stevenson (25:54, 216th) rounded out IU's top five. Stevenson set a new career best with his time.
No. 4 Colorado on the men's blue race with a team score of 75 points, while No. 27 Florida State finished second with 141 points and No. 13 North Carolina State finished third with 152 points.
The Hoosiers return to the IU Cross Country Championship Course when they host the Indiana 4K Championships on Saturday, Oct. 21.
