Oct. 18, 2008
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Redshirt senior Brennon Plotner paced the Indiana men's cross country team to an eighth place finish and a team score of 219 points at the Pre-Nationals White 8K race on Saturday, Oct. 18, on the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Plotner led the Hoosiers as he crossed the finish line in a personal-best 24:19.9 to place 30th overall among a field of 267 athletes. He was followed by sophomore Ben Hubers in 31st place with a time of 24:12.4, also a personal best. Senior Timothy McLeod placed 45th with a personal-best time of 24:22.1. Redshirt freshman Andrew Poore finished 53rd with a time of 24:26.4, and sophomore Cole Hardacre wrapped up the Hoosier top five in 60th place with a time of 24:31.5.
"The men's team ran a little more aggressively than I would have liked them to today, but with that said they ran really well with an eighth place finish," Indiana Director and Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Ron Helmer said. "We may have lost a few points at the end, but we had a nice, solid pack and finished well."
The Hoosiers will take a break from competition next week to prepare for the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Nov. 2 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
