Kyle Qualifies for NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana redshirt freshman Jordan Kyle qualified for a spot at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships with a third place finish at the Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Kyle, who competed in his first-ever Great Lakes Regional Championships, placed third overall with in a career-best 31:02.43 in the 10K to lead the Hoosiers to a sixth place finish among the field of 31 teams. Kyle is the second straight Hoosier to finish third in the regional championship. Last season, Sean Jefferson finished third with a time of 31:07.9.
Sophomore Timothy McLeod finished 20th overall with a career-best time of 31:46.67, redshirt sophomore Mark Fruin placed 33rd overall in a career-best 32:01.31, redshirt junior Brennon Plotner finished 41st overall with a career-best time of 32:17.79, and senior Marcus Aguilar rounded out the Hoosier pack with a time of 32:43.78 to finish 65th overall.
The 2006 NCAA Championships will be held at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 20. The men's 10K is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. (EST).
