February 13, 2000 TWO SCHOOL RECORDS FALL AT CANON IV CLASSIC
Indianapolis, Indiana - The Hoosier's top four sprinters spent their weekend in Indianapolis competing in the Canon IV Classic. After the conclusion of Saturday night's action two school records had fallen and a pair of Hoosiers had provsionaly qualified for the NCAA Championship.
Lorraine Dunlop broke her own mark in the 60 meters with a qualifying time of 7.37 in the prelimes. She placed 9th overall in the event. Danielle Carruthers broke Heather Brown's mark of 24.46 in the 200 meters as she ran a qualifying time of 23.99. Brown's record had stood since 1993.
Other Hoosiers competing included LaToya Turner (12th in the 200 meters 24.29, 20th in the 60 meter hurdles 8.86) and Tia Trent (8th in the 400 meters 55.50). Dunlop also finished 9th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.20 and Carruthers placed 13th in the 60 meters in a time of 7.50.
