BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The USTFCCCA has announced the 2009 Division I All-Academic teams for cross country, and the Indiana men's and women's teams were both among the teams recognized. The women's team recorded a team GPA of 3.73, which ranks fourth nationally.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.

The Hoosiers had a stellar 2009 campaign on the course and in the classroom. Three athletes earned individual All-Academic honors from the coaches association. Wendi Robinson, Sarah Pease and Chelsea Blanchard earned the honors with All-Region performances on the course and high marks in the classroom. The three Hoosiers led the team to a berth in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

Andrew Poore and Zach Mayhew also earned individual All-Academic honors from the coaches association. Poore and Mayhew also garnered All-Region honors, which Poore parlayed into an individual berth in the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

A school record 26 Hoosier harriers were selected as Academic All-Big Ten honorees between the two teams. Highlighting that group were first team All-Big Ten honorees Mayhew and Robinson.

IU track and field closes out the indoor campaign March 12-13 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. For complete coverage of IU track and field, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
