September 3, 1999 HOOSIERS RUN WELL IN INDIANA OPEN
Bloomington, Ind. -- The men and cross country team kicked off their season by hosting the Indiana Open in a non-team scoring event. Eastern Illinois also competed in the meet.
The IU men's team only ran five runners today. Top runners for the team Tom Chorny and Aaron Gillen sat out of this race but will be back in action at the next race. "Today was a race where we ran smart. We were under control during the entire race. I had some of the guys back off at the end to let them pace themselves. Of course Chris Ekman and Tom Breckenridge ran very well and we are looking for them to have strong season," said Coach Robert Chapman after the meet.
