Although the men only ran five runners, it was a great opportunity for the freshman to see some action. The Hoosiers will be focusing their attention this week to the upcoming Indiana Intercollegiate in Terre Haute, Ind.They are looking towards this year's meet with high expectations. Some of their top runners are back and stronger. Some of the top runners for the team ran the Indiana Open unattached so they could still compete in some capacity. Tom Brooks finished first and Bart Pharris finished nineth. Both will be counted on to help form a competitive men's team.

IU Men's Notes: The men's team only ran five runners at the Indiana Open. Top runners Tom Chorny and Aaron Gillen sat out of the race but will be back in action at the Indiana Intercollegiate. Both Chorny and Gillen will be instrumental if Hoosiers wish to compete in the Big Ten Championship when they host the meet in November.

Quoting Men's Head Coach Robert Chapman:"We ran smart and were under control. We have the week off and will keep the running up.We have some intense work-outs planned for Thursday and Friday. We are looking forward to the the upcoming race. Butler, which is ranked, will be a challenge for us"
